My Pet Runs Through the Boundary of the PetSafe® Stay & Play® Compact Wireless Fence System
Always remove the collar from your pet before beginning any troubleshooting.

Make sure your base unit is turned on and has power.
Power is indicated by the solid blue light. If your base unit has an LCD screen, ensure the power switch is set to ON (I). The LCD screen should be free of alarms and error icons.
If the base unit has an alarm sounding or your LCD screen shows any error icons, you will need to visit our article My PetSafe® Brand Stay & Play® Compact Wireless Fence Base Unit Is Alarming or Has an Error Icon.
Ensure your base unit is in an appropriate location. For more information, visit How To Select a Suitable Location for My PetSafe® Brand Stay & Play® Compact Wireless Fence Base Unit.
Ensure the collar has a slow-blinking light every 4-5 seconds, indicating power.
If your blinking light is red or yellow, it should be charged fully before continuing to troubleshoot. For more information on charging, visit How To Charge My PetSafe® Stay & Play® Compact Wireless Fence Collar.
Verify your collar is set to a level other than 1 by pressing and releasing the button and counting the number of flashes.
Level 1 is tone-only and will not deliver a static correction. For help changing your current correction level, visit How To Change the Correction Level on My PetSafe® Stay & Play® Compact Wireless Fence Collar.
If the pet builds a tolerance to the correction level he was once trained or familiar with, his recognition level may have changed. Increase the static correction level by 1 to see how he responds.

Test the collar from waist height at the boundary to see if it activates.
For more information on testing your collar, visit How To Test My PetSafe® Brand Stay & Play® Compact Wireless Fence Collar for Correction.
If your collar activates at the boundary, continue to step 6.

Ensure the collar is fitted correctly on your pet.
To verify the correct fit, visit How To Fit the PetSafe® Brand Stay & Play® Compact Wireless Fence Collar on My Pet.
In colder months, your pet’s fur will become thicker and may require a change to the longer contact points.

Retrain your pet to the fence system.
Retraining the pet can be necessary for many reasons. Visit How To Train My Pet to the PetSafe® Stay & Play® Compact Wireless Fence Phase 1: Boundary Awareness for step-by-step instructions.
If your collar is delivering correction, is fit correctly on your dog, and you've revisited training, you may need the Stay & Play® Wireless Fence Receiver Collar for Stubborn Dogs.
